The Sheraton Mirage Pt.Douglas Art Prize and Masquerade Party

The Sheraton Mirage Pt.Douglas Art Prize is in it's 3rd year. The art prize is a highlight of the Trinity Auto Reef and Rainforest Carnivale (which is the Tropical North's annual 10 day festival held during May) and it is an opportunity for local and interstate artists to showcase their work, in an international setting. The prize is open to all Australian, Pacific Islander and New Zealand residents.
The Sheraton Mirage Pt.Douglas Art Competition main prize is a $7000 acquisitive prize Sponsored by the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas. The Art Prize has many other non acquisitive awards sponsored by local business's and Art patrons, ensuring an opportunity for many to be part of this event.
The artwork must depict a landscape of a natural setting, including topics depicting geological, zoological, underwater, seascape or forest settings including mythological and dreaming.
Entry into the competition will also allow artists free entry into the Masquerade Party, although tickets can be purchased for just the award night. The party will feature music by "Drifting Spirits", other surprise entertainment, food and a complimentary drink on arrival.
The Art Prize Awards and Masquerade Party is to be held at the Port Douglas Community Centre on the 24th May, opening at 7pm with the Awards announcement by Cairns Regional Gallery Mayor - Val Schier at 8pm.
Come along and have a great night of culture and entertainment with friends, mix with other artists and perhaps purchase some wonderful works of art. The exhibition will be open daily until the 1st June.
